Willow, my oncologist who is also a surgeon has told me to not do any more surgeries,my skin is not healing well on the right side due to the radiation from my first BC where they performed a lunpectomy and radiation. I'm ok with looking like Barbie, never any head lights. I may at some point in time do tatooing but with the scars across I think would look odd. Happy 2013.

I had my surgery Aug. 6, 2012 with reconstruction started at that time....exchange surgery was Nov. 1 st....you're a few weeks ahead of me. Yes they still feel foreign....sore, tender, with occasional shooting pains. Question for you.....are you going to have nipple reconstrucion? I haven't decided either way...Thanks for commenting...hope you have a wonderful year :-)

Thanks its good to know that I am not alone, I thought I was prepared for the bilaterial but there are days I just break down. I had surgery July 22 2012, with reconstruction started at the same time. I had my real ones put in on Oct 3 2012, they still feel foreign.

Yes it does get better. I thought that way as well after my reconstruction. Mine was July 2012, can't remember the day. Strange huh? The skin on the side of my new boob was really sensitive for awhile and I feared the implant would break the skin. It feels as if the skin is getting thicker. It used to feel like there was crumpled up newspaper against me bones. I haven't felt that for some time. I pray a lot for healing. Healing in my body and healing in my head. So much emotional, spiritual, and physical healing to be done.
May God bless us ALL with what we need and desire.
