Yes! Jackets with inside pockets. Usually there are two pockets on the inside. You will likely have 4 drains. Two will have to be pinned, but those will come out first. Then you can easily slide your last two drains in the pocket of your jacket (so much easier than pinning). Don't bother with a shirt - just wear the jacket alone. It's summer, so choose thin ones. Black yoga pants - easy to slip on, comfortable to sleep in and they match everything. Flip flops - easy to slip on and off. That and underwear is all you need. Also, have a nice, clean bed ready for when you get home. I put a large breakfast tray on the bed with a notebook, my phone, books/magazines, TV remote control and space for my medicine and a drink. I also slept in a different room from my husband for both of our comfort (but he was right across the hall so I could call him if I needed him). This was important: I had a bed cushion with arms so I could comfortably sit up in bed. I actually slept sitting up for the first two weeks because it was so painful to lie down and if I did lie down I was unable to get back up without assistance. By staying in a sitting up position, I was able to get in and out of the bed by myself to use the bathroom.

I found getting a vest with pockets inside, or any type of shirt, not pullover, but zip or button, that can conceal your drains while holding them at the same time was very helpful. It makes it simpler than having the drains hang out of the shirt and need to be pinned to clothing.

Good luck

@A MyBCTeam Member I slept in a recliner for the first 4 weeks ( it was an automatic recliner so easy to get in and out of) My husband was able to take a month off of work and we have a huge ottoman in the living room that he slept on. As for the hospital I used a button up blouse and slip on stretch pants. I also bought a Velcro belt with port holders but never used it. With fatigue once all drains were out I also had a simple shower chair to sit in and shower myself. The other thing I would recommend is to get a coobie bra once your able to get out of mastectomy bra and lift arms so you can pull bra over head. And just make sure you take pain killers initially on a routine basis.

COMFY clothes. Be sure to pack something that buttons up the front. I wore regular pants and a button up p.j. Shirt. You may want to get a bra that has pockets for your drains also. I pinned mine to the inside of my shirt until I got home.

@A MyBCTeam Member Yes they froz me during surgery. MY chest and underarms. I guess they do this so when you come too its less pain. Same as dental freezing but lasts longer.I have not been staged yet as I am awaiting biopsy. At first I was leary of the pain pump but it sure helped with sleep and pain.
The nurse came tonight and took all my bandages off except the underarms as the tubes are stapled there but I get to wear a sports bra now Wahooo!! Its the little things that makes you feel better. My daughter took pictures of all my staples as well...Looks like a lot of Bling across my chest. You will do fine!!I was a wreck and its not as bad as I thought it would be:)
