After Chemo & Herceptin, Then What?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
Jacksonville, FL

I'm HER 2+ in one breast and ER+ in the other. Had a double masectomy with expanders placed. I'm currently getting chemo of Taxotere and Carboplatin + Herceptin. I was wondering after chemo whether my oncologist will put me on an estrogen suppressor or another pill. My sister is on Femara and says it hurts her bones.. Any ladies out there with a similar diagnosis that can tell me what was prescribed after chemo/Herceptin?

I had 6 rounds of TCH. Still in Herceptin til this November. Started Tamoxifen at the end of May (I am pre-menopausal, age 42) and I was told that the protocol was now to be on it for 10 years. I haven't noticed much for side effects, had some aches and soreness but could be from workouts rather than the pill.

I had TCH also, followed by 33 radiation treatments because I had 2 lymph nodes with cancer. After my year of Herceptin, I now take Arimidex and will for 5 years since I am post menopausal. I feel very blessed to not have the side effects some women have. I do have some hot flashes and that is about it. Good luck!

Good question. I am 77 years and have been on Letrozole for 8 months. The joint pains are awful, what would happen if I stopped the Letrozole? I had chemo for 6 sessions and finishing up Hepceptin next week (1 year on Herceptin).

I am on Letrozole, (I think it's the generic for Femora). My oncologist advised me to take a particular brand of glucosachomdroitim- Move Free, to avoid bone pain. It seems to be helping, as I don't have pain. My chemo was TC, 6 rounds. I was HR2 negative.
