Make sure the area is clean for treatment. No chemicals on the treated area. I changed my soap to non chemical ones during treatment and was able to shower before each treatment. Use the lotion as recommended..usually 3x per day. They'll recommend a lotion but if you feel it's not doing what you want, check around. Still focus on keeping your body healthy...nutrition, hydration, rest and exercise if you can. If you can air the area, do so. I got tired during treatment and for a while there after but nothing like the chemo bottom. I finished my 6 weeks of rads four months ago and have nothing worth complaining about so far.

I too had to travel every day to have radiotherapy . Luckily here in Scotland we have in our area volunteer drivers who collect you from your home take you to the unit and bring you back again. It was such a tiring few weeks that they were a Godsend. I was very fortunate that I didn't burn but by the time my 17th blast came I was very red . The radiotherapy took more out of me than the chemo. .
The staff at the centre give you a check over half way through to see if you might benefit from cream as even if your skin breaks and bleeds they will still blast you . Near the end though but still a long road to travel and I wish you the health and strength to get through it.

There's really nothing you can do. Its so fast but makes you exhausted. I went everyday for 6 weeks a month after chemo. I went from work and then went home and slept for 3 hours and still went to bed early there's also creams my can get for your skin wear your getting radiated it does burn area but towards the end get a sports bra no wires if it's your boob. Just keep in mind your getting to the end!!!!

I am finishing 28 rounds of radiation. My skin held up really well and I applied the cream twice/day. No big words of wisdom but it is much easier than chemo IMO. I felt well throughout - maybe a bit more tired than usual especially as I near the end of my treatment but I work full time too and have a full time family. My RO was close to where I work and live which made it much easier. If I had to travel a distance, it would have really taken more of a toll on me. It goes by quickly! It will be over before you know it!

Hello!! I had 6 rounds of chemo, double Mystectamy in April 2015 with expanders for reconstruction 28 rounds of radiation finished In September 2015 now waiting 6 months for my reconstruction. My advice to you about radiation it not as bad as everyone says I was so scared but for me it was not bad. Just please make sure you put on the cream that they give you 3 to 4 times a day everyday. it will help with burning of your skin . I didn't listen and I got burnt bad. Everyone said I would be tired but I work full time threw chemo and radiation and it wasn't that bad. I think now I get more tired now then when I was doing my treatments. Good luck🍀.
