After a recurrence of breast cancer and another surgery I was developing cording (axillary web syndrome from the scar tissue) which restricts range of motion and can be very painful. I spoke to my surgeon and told him I needed to see a physical therapist that is trained in this area. He had his nurse get right on it and within a week I was receiving treatment. After first session my shoulder and ROM was 80% restored to normal. You have to speak up and let your team of doctors and nurses know what is happening with you and what you feel would help you. They are there for you.

You may have scar tissue that is there or lymphodima. You might want to find out about a physical therapist who does cording

I have that also and I am 2 1/2 years out. I had my 4 months check up last week and asked the doctor why I was still having pain in my lumpectomy area - he said that when they go in and cut out the lump that they cut into some nerves. This means that I will probably always have some discomfort on occasion.
