I'm 48, and also had double mastectomy 15 months ago, two rounds of fat transfer. PS told me last week that I'm all ready for tats! I'm excited, she works with a 3D artist, so I'm hoping to get consult in the next week or so. I actually have gotten used to way I look, think I'll look a bit more natural with the ink, it also feels like closure. I like milestones! We've all been through so much! Not sure I'll go through with the ink, but definitely going to have consult and check it out! Good luck with your decision.

I had breast reconstruction and finished with 3 D nipple tattoos. I'm very happy with my decision. I did a lot of research. They look real, yet it's not mandatory for me to wear a bra to cover nipples that are "standing at attention". It's with checking into.

Update for you! My ps found an artist who does 3D, for bc survivors for free! Thinks Vinny is great, but really overcharging! When it came down to it, I went for hearts. Why go with tradition at this point? I think they look great, I also got a tiny pink ribbon on my wrist, which I paid for, and tipped very well!

My experience was good, went to his tattoo parlor has his assistant, my breast tissue is thin over the implants so Vinnie came in to assist, they had to be careful to not puncture the implants. They did an awesome job, it made me feel so much better, I felt like a freak with no nipples but did not want to go through the nipple reconstruction. I had group coverage and they denied the tattoo but I appealed and got the money back. I found out from my doctors at Stanford after my local doctors removed all my breast tissue and nipples that I could had kept my nipples. It is so hard to find out what a bad job my doctors did on me, I trusted them and they really did a bad job, I live a few miles from the doctor but drive to Stanford now for all treatment (3+ hours from my home due to traffic). Had my surgery in 2014 and have a lot of anger for my breast surgeon still, she is a horrible doctor and the medical oncologist was just as bad, I got horrible care and had to get a second opinion to save my life, they (she) took my entire breast(s) and did not get all of the cancer. I cannot share her name on this site but sure wish I could to save others the horror I went through!
