Is Chemo Only Allowed Once In A Lifetime?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭

I read online (I wish I hadn't read anything online about chemo, it's got me so terrified) that chemo is so hard on the body you can only have it once. Is this true? What if the cancer comes back!?

You can have chemo more than once in your lifetime, its Radiation that you can only have once in your lifetime in whichever area was radiated.

Chemo is really a catch 22, it does kill the cancer but it is a battle on your body. I suffered depression, mouth sores, fatigue, fainting, pneumonia, hip pain, loss my voice, it was a scary scary year, but the 29th it will be one year since I have been cancer free and I feel good considering all the set backs. If we don't kill all the microscopic cells by chemo, radiation, surgery and medications, it has a better chance of coming back, but it still can even with everything we do right. I pray for all of us to be healed from this horrible disease!

@A MyBCTeam Member sadly I have two tumors. One triple negative stage 2a and one stage 1 ER positive. I'm so luck I get the best of both:) will be getting ovaries removed and Emeredex after chemo.... Yes at 35:( and 25 rounds of radiation. I'm truly lucky though, all 13 lymph nodes were negative!!!! Hugs

I was give 5 days of shots. I have a two year old. On my last shot with no pain or side effects. Bought Zyrtec just in case because of course when you don't have it, you will need it :). @A MyBCTeam Member I am in the same place as you with a young child! All we can do as young cancer fighters and mothers is fight for our young children. If you don't put out the effort, there is nothing else left to fight for. It isn't physically easy going through chemo, but having a child and cancer at a young age isn't emotionally easy either. I'm here if you need anything. Start round two next week! Try looking forward to something when this is all over! Mine is my boys 3rd bd party. Focus on that it does help a little...... Hugs! I'm here for you sister!!!!
