Clinical Trials For Triple Negative BC
I just signed up to be in a clinical trial for TNBC. They told me I would get the normal treatment, AC, 4-6 cycles, every 2 weeks and then 12 weeks of paclitaxel, once a week and possibly Carboplatin . Has anyone else done this regimen? They also said the Taxel frequently causes neuropathy, so they will give smaller doses weekly.
I also put weight on with taxotere (they told me I would) but I think most of that is from the steroids. The bone aching is from your low white counts - they drop so far below normal that the bones work like crazy making new cells in the marrow - that's what aches - get a 24" heating pad and lay on it - makes a huge difference with the bone pain. Not everyone gets neuropathy - I was one of the lucky ones who did not 😊 I didn't have Carbo? I had Cytoxine with my taxotere - that combo gave me major constipation and yeast infection every time so had to take antibiotics for yeast and stool softeners starting before chemo session until about a week after infusion. I also had major mouth sores but only with one round.
I also put on weight with the taxol. I also broke out like a teenager on my face, head and chest. I never had skin problems before.
This sounds like so much fun, but I guess there are no other options for TNBC. Since I am diabetic I am sure the steroids will increase my bgs. I am already thin and hope I don't lose too much weight. I alrafy have lots of diverticula in my colon, hoping I don't end up with diverticulitis.
I had a/c the red devil as we like to call it. It's very hard on your insides. I ended up with diverticulitis and 2 intestinal infections from it. Eat very easy to digest bland foods with low fiber to ease things on the GI. I also had taxol and didn't really get bad neuropathy at all but I know some people that have. B12 helps with this. Taxol can make you feel like you have the flu or hit by a truck. It's makes your bones ache from the inside. I felt like I was hit with a truck a small truck like a pick up truck versus a Mac truck though. 😜 I just popped Vicodin for a few days and then it passed. Plus there is no nausea with this drug. But they will have you do steroids and Benedryl because the media used to deliver the drug causes allergic reaction with some people.
