Can Lymphedema Affect Feet?
I have lymphedema in my left arm and hand. The other day I was shopping for some shoes and noticed while trying different ones on that my left foot was swollen. I have never had my foot swell and was wondering if the lymphedema can affect other limbs?
You can get Lymohedemia in any part of your body but with breast cancer it is usually in your arms. I would call your doctor just to get it checked out. Many years ago I got foot and ankle swelling and it was due to a statin medication I was on.
I have it in both arms and trunk due to my bilateral mastectomy. Like Jwags says, it can go anywhere. Please ask doc to get you into a physical therapist that has additional certification with breast cancer massage and they will know about this and can help you handle it safely.
Defintely, my feet swell frequently to the point they burn. Strange, if I'm walking a lot, getting those steps in, I'm fine, but when I'm idle or standing up on them, I find I have more pain. My lymphodema is in my right arm, but the swelling is in both feet, especially around the ankles.
Elevate them defintely and sometimes a little cool compress helps.
Thank you for the information. Is there anything you do to help the swelling go away in the feet? Elevate them?
