How Long Does The Tape Stay On Over Your Chest After Exhange Surgery?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Avon Lake, OH

I had my Exhange surgery 2 days ago. I was surprised to find my who,e chest covered in a transparent tape. I have allergies to many adhesives and the tape it he's like crazy. I see my PS tomorrow morning. I am hoping he takes it off.

The appointment went well and PS says everything looks good. He left the tape on until next appt to play safe with infection. My incisions are entirely across my breast and he had to suture the side of my radiated breast to keep implant in place. He said he knew I was allergic to most tape but chose the one he thought would irratate me the least. I have an appt next Wednesday. He did tell me I no longer had to wear the itchy surgical bra. I am just wearing a stretch cami top now,

@A MyBCTeam Member thanks for the explanation. I can't take Benadryl because of restless legs. I have an appt this morning. Hopefully the tape comes off today.

Hi Jwags,

I didn't have tape, the Doctor wrapped me up in a pink cloth bandage with Velcro, and I had it on until my first visit which was one week after surgery, then he had me to wear a sports bra with a zipper in the front, and I had to wear that for one month.

I was told no shower or bath until my post surgery appointment which is tomorrow. My surgery was Tuesday. There are steri strips over the incisions but transparent tape over the entire breast area. At first I didn't realize it was there until I was changing for bed the night of my surgery. I looked down and wondered why my skin was so shiny and realized it was tape. I guess they want to protect the incision areas which look kind of raw to me. With my BMX and expanders I just had steri strips over the incisions and paper tape over the drains.
