Zoledronic Acid Infusion
Has anyone had Zoledronic Acid infusions while taking Armidex?
Yes, the side effects went away after about 3 days. From what I understand some people do not have any side effects. But I feel back to normal after those side effects subside. The oncologist recommended having the infusions every 6 months for 3 years so a total of 6 infusions.
I am not sure that I have noticed any increased moodiness while taking Arimedex. It does seem like I get tearful more easily than before. But not necessarily up and down moods. I do feel light headed and dizzy sometimes which i think is related to the medication but I have found taking it at night helps with that. Also maybe some joint pain.
Have you had side effects that you have noticed? Like you, I am supposed to take the Arimedex for a total of 10 years....which means 8 more years. Hopefully I can hang in there for that long. I do not like taking medications!
I have been taking Arimdex for 2 years, my oncologist just recommended the Zometa infusion. I have a couple of questions:
1. Does it make you sick?
2. Is it painful?
I have been on the internet reading so many different side effects, it has me very apprehensive.
I have had two Zometa infusions so far and am supposed to have 4 more (one every 6 months). I also am taking Arimedex for another 8 years. I had a bone density test which showed osteoporosis in my spine and that is why they are recommending the infusions.
The infusion only takes about 15 minutes and it is not painful. I did have some effects for about 2 or 3 days after the first infusion...decreased appetite, fatigue, bone and muscle pain. After the 2nd infusion I had mostly fatigue for a couple of days after the infusion.
It is difficult to decide and I went back and forth for awhile but finally decided to go ahead with it as it is also supposed to help prevent cancer occurrence. Both my oncologist and family practice physician said the benefits outweighed the risks. But it has to be a decision you are comfortable with.
Did you have a bone density test done? Why is your oncologist recommending the infusion?
I had a bone density test done in 2016, my oncologist told me that this would help strengthen my bones while taking the Arimidex. I will be taking Arimidex for another 8 years. In addition, she told me that it is an
extra layer of protection to help prevent cancer reoccurrence. When the oncologist suggested this, I thought it would be another layer of protection for me; after reading some of the side effects I became concerned.
Did your side effects go away after the 2 or 3 days??? Did you feel completely normal after that time?
How long will you be taking the infusions?
One more question, do you have "moodiness" while taking Arimidex??? Do you have any side effects from Arimidex??
Thank you for your help.
