Who Has Had Seromas With Implants/ Reconstruction?
How long did it last?
Did you have to have it drained?
Did the doctor send the fluid to the lab for tests? ( cd30 etc?)
I don't know if this helps. When I had my lumpectomy I had a terrible seroma . My doctor did tell me that heat helps them but to no avail . Here's what I found that did help Epson salts. I just filled up the sink with warm water and about a cup and 1/2 of Epson salts and soaked a towel in it. ring it out a little bit and just laid it right over that helps more than anything ever.
One member mentioned having seromas with implants and reconstruction, stating, “My plastic surgeon had to drain a liter of fluid three separate times in his office. I had the implants taken out and gave up on reconstruction.”

So no body with seromas had the fluid tested??
They found fluid around my implants during my mastectomy and explant with capsulectomy. The doctor sent the fluid to the lab along with the capsule and had them tested for the CD 30 marker. My breast had tripled in size- were red and hot to touch - there was so much swelling and inflammation. They were ruling out BIA-ALCL. Thank goodness I had a plastic surgeon that knew the protocol for ALCL and didn’t ignore the fluid and the testing. I did get a seroma too wags about a week after that surgery and had To have it drained twice as well. The general surgeon missed it several times - I finally went to another doctor who found it. My fluid and capsule came back negative at the time for BIA-ALCL but knowing that even after explant it can show up anytime in the next 7-8 years - is always in the back of my mind. As if we dont have enough to worry about.
Has anyone had their seroma fluid tested?
