My Scalp/hair Hurts. Anyone Else Experience This?
I have noticed that my scalp hurts. It will hurt in one spot for a few days. I will wash my hair or apply some rosemary/peppermint oil scalp treatment and after a few days, it will feel better. Then, it will happen in another area.
Does anyone know what causes this? For the record, I did not have chemo. I did have radiation and am on Letrozole, Verzenio, and Zometa.
Yes I experienced some of that when I was on the taxol. It felt very strange. Then it felt like my scalp was tightening and then my hair was slowly starting to come out. This is going to read weird but here goes I felt like a porcupine expelling it's quills. Then when the hair started to grow back I could feel the little peach fuz growing. All through this warm water for me felt great on my head. I used suave coconut shampoo to wash it. But I didn't wash my scalp everyday maybe every two or three days. I know it reads gross not to wash your scalp or hair everyday. Some times we over clean our bodies and dry out our skin.
Hi Margie. I too am dealing with the sore spots and thinning, as well as the horrific itching. My daughter in law is a beautician, she recommends using cooler water to rinse the products out of our hair. I use a goat milk soap and shampoo that you can get from Beekman's 1802. They have some great products at pretty reasonable prices.
My hair has been falling out a lot which is why I cut my hair. I cut off about 8 inches as it was lookiing very stringy and I didn't like the way it looked. I can see some hair growth, but not sure if it's replacing what I'm losing at the same rate.
I've been using Bondi shampoo and conditioner. I also use Pacifica scalp therapy that has rosemary and peppermint oil. I believe it works pretty well. I've tried Haitian Black Castor Oil, but I have fine hair and it was way too heavy.
I recently ordered Routine shampoo and conditioner and the serum. I havent tried it yet, but it's gotten really great reviews so I'm willing to try it.
None of these products are cheap so I hope they work well.
Along with satin pillow cases, are satin night caps. especially helpful during whisker growing period.
My scalp hurts while I was losing my hair and on Taxol and Carboplatin. Satin pillowcases helped my sensitive scalp.
Hope that help.
