Chronic Burning Pain In Reconstructed Breast. Nerve Pain Medicines Like Gabapentin And Lyrica Do Not Work.
I had mastectomy, radiation and chemotherapy. Breast tissue is still tight after 10 years. I have chronic pain in the lower breast. Does anyone experienced this pain and know of any remedies for this pain?
The scar tissue for me is really painful in my right breast. Now don't laugh, but in my situation it gets rock hard and I do to this day get cramping that takes my breath away from the radiation. But with the scar tissue, with any surgery you will have that, just what your body does I guess. But someone in this group mentioned when the scar tissue gets painful and the breast feels hard, use a small vibrator. This breaks up the scar tissue where the skin will not be so hard, plus it takes the pain away for a bit because the tissue isn't so firm. Usually they say to massage it every day in the shower, but for me it was like mini needles and using a small vibrator it helps better and I don't get those needle like pains when massaging by hand, but it still hurts. But you will know when you need to break it down again because the skin will be firm and start hurting, but feels so much better once you get it broken down per se.
I also recently started using essential oils like Frankincense and Tea Tree oil in a carrier oil like olive oil, coconut oil, etc. I have found that using this on arthritis areas, plus where I had radiation and my surgery, it reduced the cramping that I was having and the pain. I'm 8.5 years out and it seems like the cramping gets worse each year, but using the Frankincense oil has reduced those spasms.
For chronic burning pain in a reconstructed breast, especially when nerve pain medicines like Gabapentin and Lyrica do not work, consider the following options:
