Birth Control While On Tamoxifen
So I have the Mirena iud (not used for birth control but for heavy bleeding) and it is due to be removed in 2 days. I have asked my oncologist, surgeon and obgyn providers and they do not have any idea of it is safe to have a hormone iud and be on tamoxifen at the same time. My breast cancer is hormone positive, so is my having a hormone birth control okay to use? I don't want to go back to heavy bleeding every 2 weeks. Ihave looked everywhere and cannot find any information on it

My question would be to start off with would be is having heavy periods and why? Is there something lurking around that I don't know about. I was stupid on that part also prior to my hysterectomy. Then I did a search a long time ago on whether or not can females have hemophilia I know some males can have this blood disorder. Surprise here its coming wait for it OK here it is some women can have what is called vonwilithsbrand I probably spelt that wrong also darn it and not even know it. It's a form of female hemophilia. Well I hope eventually you find something that works out for you. Love prayers and hugs.
I was told to have my removed so I did. I had a hormonal one also for heavy periods. Was going to get the copper one but in some cases it makes your period heavier and doesn’t eliminate it which was the benefit I was looking for. So back to condoms for us.
Any birth control that has hormones in it should not be used with tamoxifen because it lowers the effectiveness of it. I only found one that is hormone free for birth control it is called paraguard its and iud that uses copper wires around it. If your allergic to copper can not use it. There aren't really many birth controll methods out there that can between 98-99 % of effectiveness. This can last up to ten years. Only other two ways is no sex or sterilization.
I hope this helps.
Think positive thoughts and I will pray all will go fine for you. Hugs love❤️
@BarabaraDavis I had a endometrial biopsy done before I had the Mirena put in. That came back fine. I have thickening of my uterine wall which causes heavy bleeding. I ended up taking the iud out. Bleeding hasn't been too bad for now. fingers crossed it stays that way.
