Triple Negative Breast Cancer Recurrence Anyone Has Had A Situation Where Radiation Did Not Work And Recurrence

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
Toronto, CA

I had TNBC 6 months ago, had lumpectomy, radiation 20 sessions. But the cancer came back in the same location in 6 months time. Now, i need a mastectomy. Anyone in that situation. One thing I am very reluctant to do is chemo. I am 76 years old. I would rather some quality of life, even if short, than to destroy whatever time there is, with chemo. Chemo and its side effects scare me to death. Plus, radiation didn't work. chances are that chemo will not either.
Anyone in a similar situation?

Hi. So sorry about this. Did they recommend immunotherapy since you’re triple negative?

Same as anyone else, fatigue, nausea, anemia, neuropathy, diarrhea, etc. Side effects can be managed with medication

TNBC, 2018, chemo, surgery and radiation. From what I am told and read, it responds well to chemo.
Wishing you well!
