How Did Your First 3D Mammo Go After Treatment?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
San Diego, CA

I will have my last Herceptin and perjeta treatment in Sept. it will conclude over a year long journey. A Mammo did not catch my ILC. After Lumpectomy in Aug. started chemo in Sept 23, 20 rounds of radiation and still on immunotherapy for Her 2 +. I am really nervous for my first 3D mammo. What if treatment didn’t work? Will a 3D mammo be enough?

3-d Mammogram is how they caught mine, but I have IDC. My tumor is just over a 1cm wide and they caught it. I hope they can help you!

Will you have ongoing 3D imaging or just once? It is hard to get imaging approved after an early stage diagnosis and treatment. I personally think that is a serious flaw in how we are treated.
I had several unsuccessful mammos as well even though I could see the puckering on the top of my breast. I finally insisted on an ultrasound and that's how they found it. I often wonder what might have happened if it hadn't taken so long to get appropriate imaging

A 3D mammogram, also known as digital breast tomosynthesis, involves compressing each breast once while a machine takes multiple low-dose X-rays, moving in an arc over each breast. This imaging technique allows doctors to see breast tissues more clearly and in three dimensions. Studies suggest that 3D mammography reduces the need for follow-up testing and is particularly helpful for people with higher breast density.

If you have specific concerns or experiences you'd like to share, feel free to discuss them with your healthcare provider or support network.
