Has Anyone Had Experience With Metronomic Chemotherapy? Cytoxan (oral) 50 Mg Every Day & 2.5 Mg Of Methotrexate (oral) 1 X Week.

I haven't had any treatment for two months. I have had disease progression so I need to get back on something. My oncologist is recommending metronomic low dose oral chemotherapy along with methotrexate. I'm so scared to start this. The side effects seem to be brutal. I'm supposed to put gloves on to take them b/c I'm not suppose to touch them. I was told side effects would be more tolerable than IV chemo (of which I've had a ton). I'm having a hard time believing that. To have a… read more

wrong on so many levels imho - but i digress since i still know nothing about [coining your verbiage] these 'brutal' trmt plans other than i consider them barbaric and efffin HATE that any human would need to make such an insane choice

alas, i'm new to 'said insanity' -of where we still appear to have remained stagnant regarding decades old trmt modalities given that b.c numbers have been skyrocketing - all the above however, to have NOT YET built a less toxic cancer trap

so still being a protege, i can only offer that our mentors of this great group will be here soon to try to help

i can offer hugs...and fwiw will have you in thoughts and prayers this evening

greetings @A MyBCTeam Member - functional, traditional, eastern, western, holistic, 'NATURAL', chemical -am i natural chemical or synthetic chemical? lol -medical buzz words that i have little time or inclination to consider - i detest labels... i'm also not afraid of chemicals since i realize that we ARE chemicals & chemicals in our bods trigger mechanical reactions.

however, i did the math & know how old this antiquated treatment is as of today. 107 yrs. - this is my bete noire - 107 yrs. of suffering with chemo AND our b.c. numbers increasing to 1-8 -

am i naive enough to think that those with advanced cancer don't need to take that risk of harming their healthy cells to stop the cancer? NO, - i hope no one feels that's what i'm saying. - i'm sharing MY opinion that 107 yrs. for a treatment that is still as toxic [discounting some recent tweaks] as it's purpose at inception, does NOT feel like searches for better treatment have been a priority given the amount of damage it does while trying to save later stage cancers. -where is our sense of urgency for better cancer care for the past 10 decades?

if i may philosophize in comparison to covid - a planet in panic with global scientists working together - the alarm was sounded, a call to arms & the battle began with utmost priority. - don't we think we have a right to demand more humane cancer treatment?

my dogs fleas... yep - i'm gunna GO here... i certainly know some substances [even NATURAL ones] {the heavy metal gad comes to mind -wink} -are poisonous & i hate putting such harsh chemicals on my animals - i do so coz i consider the alternative of the flea. - i can SEE the flea & the discomfort of allergy it causes. - i still contend & maintain that those whose profession involves radiation & chemo therapy are soliciting the use of their trmts. on an elusive premise & the 'statistical numbers game of recurrence'. - i need more proof... better odds before i take ANY pill

while i would never tell another what to do with their body, -i'm not a gambler so i don't know if i'd deem it worth the risk of ending up in the hosp at deaths door, in the attempt to save my life, only to have made my health worse on the 'assumption' of having a less than 5% recur rate vs. 8% without incurring untoward side effects from meds that you have to wear gloves to handle -

also unfortunately, seniors may make it through without incident - however, we're more prone to LATE & PERMANENT side effects. - i prefer not to play russian roulette with my health & unless the onc can convince me with concrete evidence rather than simply speculating stats, that my recurrence in eminent, i feel i may go with the 8% to ride off on my unicorn into the glittery rainbow sunset

I'm in a similar mindset with having to make the decision to take a med or not. While I'm not stage IV yet, I'm higher risk because of a local reoccurrance. But does that mean I have to give up my quality of life? I feel you. Hugs my friend!! I'm doing my final show down with my oncologist next week. πŸ€—
