Is There Anybody Who “doesn’t Have” Dense Breasts? I Keep Reading Everyone Has Dense, And I’ve Never Heard Anyone Say They Don’t.

Just wondering and actually for how many women are mammograms useless as a screening method. Everyone with dense breasts should be getting MRIs, but cost for insurance companies is of course prohibitive. Too bad. Maybe someday.

I’m told I have “heterogeneously dense breasts.) Then was told that by my age, that’s unexpected. Really? I guess my body isn’t doing what it’s supposed to? In any case, despite having dense breasts, my BC was discovered early and by a routine mammogram. So I wouldn’t say mammos are useless, though I know they can miss quite a bit. My surgeon is having me have a mammo once a year, and an MRI once a year. Just had my first mammogram- came back clear. I don’t have MRI until February. I won’t feel totally reassured and safe until I have that.
The medical world is a strange beast!

Women are dying, young women with little children are dying because women don't get adequate care. They need better detection tools that can diagnose cancer early on for women who would take advantage of it. I just don't understand if they know most Breast cancers begin in the cells why a cure or something more promising hasn't been found. I sure hope its not all because Breast cancer is a huge money making business.

I told this story here way back. I was on this cholesterol drug for over a year back in 2011 and it improved my numbers immediately and kept them stable for over a year or two. Then I had to have an in-office visit to continue getting it prescribed every 6 months, so I go in and sit down and the doctor comes in and says' I'm changing your medication today'. I asked 'Why, it's been working'. He had no answer. That right there proved a salesperson from some drug company got to him to push their drug.

And if mammograms aren't accurate for women who have dense breasts, that should be on record. Why bother with future mammograms and not get an ultrasound instead?

Yes , I too have very dense breasts. Drs can’t see tumors
So often times they order a biopsy, with MRIs, the study over shows everything again solution is biopsy. Soon they’ll be able to do a blood biopsy and perhaps with AI coming to medical imaging, it would help with the reading of mammograms to determine if it’s a tumor or not. Very frustrating for us with dense breasts.
