Ask your surgeon about a referral. I had the single mastectomy, and the surgeon prescribed a weighted prosthetic for that side. Aside from a cosmetic reason- the weighted prosthetic evens things up so that I can hopefully avoid possible issues with neck, shoulder, and back.

Since you had a double- I would suspect your body is adjusting to the loss of weight carried, and so it may take some time to get used to that. The PT referral could really help to make sure all the changes you are noticing are positive changes! Good luck, let us know how it goes! Hugs!

After surgery, stiffness, pain, or tightness in the chest and shoulders can affect your movement. PT can help improve range of motion, posture, and overall mobility. Yes, it does wonders. I was slouching all the time to reduce the tension across my chest. It was causing pain in my shoulders & back. I go 2x a week for an hour each time.
