Anyone having dental issues from taking Tomoxifin? I am on month 9 and having issues with my gums and teeth. So much pain and the dentists can not figure it out. I noticed that this may be an issue to my medication. Anyone have this issue. How did you resolve it? Im only taking Tomafafin, No chemo or infusion or Ai. I read that Tomaxafin affects the teeth as well. Gums and jaw hurt really bad.

Yes ma’am. I had dental issues. It hurt to eat and just pain in gums. I changed meds. I’m t wasn’t the tamoxifen but the post menopause meds. It was frustrating because the dr said that they had never heard of the meds affecting the gums and I stated that if the doctors would submit our info it would be in the side effects. This forum is the best. They always help us to understand things that comes up .great people and very up to date on all things.

My doctor recommended clove oil. You can find it on Amazon specifically for teeth and gums.

@A MyBCTeam Member, I was put on a two week “vacation” by the radiation oncologist. A week later, I saw the PA for the oncologist. She wanted to put me right back on the same medication even though I had severe psychological issues as a result. I said “no”. She wanted to put me on something else. I said “no” again. I wanted to do some research on my own. I cried all the way home and decided to change cancer providers. When I met with my new oncologist, he said that he wasn’t going to put me on anything because, in my case, “the risks far outweighed the benefits.” I have been off tamoxifen since March.

I had receding gums going into my chemotherapy. I started using sensodyne toothpaste with softer brush and rinse with nicotine mouthwash multiple times a day. I swear by this. No new sores nor gum issues.
