@A MyBCTeam Member For me, being HER2+, the protocols included a year of Herceptin infusions, and while I was able to finish, a lot of pink sisters cannot, because side effects can include heart and lung issues (of which, many could be permanent). Due to the risk for heart damage, a baseline echo is done before starting Herceptin, and then every three months to monitor for potential heart issues. Sometimes pain is an indication that something else is going on, and in the bigger picture, the risk may outweigh the benefits.

@A MyBCTeam Member,
If the protocol for your particular cancer was 6 mos of chemo, why would the same dr advise you to quit? Are you not afraid of recurrence? I'm so sorry the pain was bad. Taxol is giving unbearable pain but my Oncologist prescribed a couple of meds that are working. Love and light.

Yes this also happened to me after 5 chemos, 2 with immunotherapy I decided to quit. Twice in the hospital and terrible pain. My onco agreed with me so I went ahead with mastectomy and the 2 lymph nodes and breast tissue showed no signs of cancer. I have yet to meet with the onco to see what he suggests now. I had invasive ductal carcinoma tnbc grade 2. My chemo was to last 6 months and I guess I wouldn’t have needed all of it.
