Ever since chemo ended almost 8 years ago my eyes run a lot! They always feel tired, irritated. Eye doctor said I have onset of cataract but not enough to do anything.. told me to take some pad day allergy drops. I think the bottle I bought was $21 and only did my eyes three days and it was out.. I never had allergies before chemo, but that’s definitely what’s going on per eye doctor

Beth, it is most likely a reaction to the radiation but still let your doctor know if you have not already. Radiation changes the texture of ou skin causing a different reaction for each of us. The purple rings should go away in a couple of weeks after you complete your treatments. Good luck. Endless hugs!!

My daughter is an Optical Technician & her eye Dr explained to me that chemo dries out your eyes. I constantly have tears because my eyes are over producing because they're so dry. I use Retaine drops, can find them on Amazon, very inexpensive & work great.

If it is allergies, there are remedies; and the dark circles do wax and wane with the seasons.

I checked out this topic of the dark circles some more….
Regarding Aromatase Inhibitors…..

Are you on an Aromatase Inhibitor??

“Can low estrogen cause dark circles under eyes?

Yes, low estrogen levels can contribute to dark circles under the eyes, especially during menopause. This is because estrogen helps prevent skin aging and maintain collagen levels. When estrogen levels drop, the skin becomes thinner and less elastic, making blood vessels more visible.
Explanation
Collagen production
Estrogen helps maintain collagen levels, a protein that keeps skin firm and smooth. When estrogen levels drop, collagen production decreases, which can lead to wrinkles and sagging skin.
Blood circulation
Hormonal fluctuations can affect blood circulation, which can make dark circles more noticeable.
Dehydration
Dehydration can contribute to the appearance of dark circles and puffiness.
Tear production
Decreasing estrogen levels can affect tear production, which can lead to dry eyes.
Other eye changes that can occur during menopause include: Puffiness and eye bags, Wrinkles, and Loss of elasticity. “

Mentioned also were cortisol and some vitamin deficiencies.
