Has Anyone Taken Lexapro, Stopped Taking It And Experienced Severe Withdrawl Symptoms?
I'm going through severe withdrawl symptoms after stopping Lexapro. I took 10mg daily for a year. I'm in the process of a move, no job, no insurance, etc... I have insomnia, depression, and what I've heard called "brain zaps." It's like nothing I've ever felt before... Dizziness and vertigo all at the same time... It happens if I move too fast in any way at all. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything you can do about it, or does it have to run its course? Also, if you stopped taking… read more
Ditto the weaning. Withdrawls are not as bad if you wean off slowly and under a doctors orders. I had the vertigo because I skipped two days after forgetting a refill.
Oh yes!! The brain zaps. My Ex Doctor told me he never heard of such a thing and I basically was full of it. But they are very real and not fun. You have to wean off by take 3/4 for a week then a half for a week and then a quarter for a week. Good luck
If it’s working don’t try and fix it.. 😊
I was diagnosed 25 years ago. At 42 years of age, I started tamoxifen. The menopausal symptoms were unbearable… hot sweats, unable to concentrate, etc. My oncologist recommended a SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor), an antidepressant. It helped and I was better able to function at work. However, I’ve tried several times to wean off with the help of doctors by decreasing the dose. The side effects always force me back on it. Brain zaps, dizziness, nausea, headaches. I’m 68 years old now and have given up on trying to get off of it! So what, right? 🫨
Yes! It was horrible if I just forgot if for a day or two. I weaned off and won’t touch the stuff! It made the depession worse.
