Cold Cap
Has anyone used cold caps to prevent hair loss from chemo? I am trying to get more info about it as I understand it actually works for some people.
I used cold caps with my taxol regimen, I only lost a tiny bit around my forehead, so little that I didn't notice the loss until the baby hairs starts regrrowing.
I tried suzzi cold caps but I think I didn't use it properly as it arrived by the second cycle where my hair already was damaged. After 7 days of the second cycle I had to remove all my hair because it was like burned and terribly falling.
I think the cap slowed down the process but can't prevent it.
Anyways hair will grow back and will look even better with the cortisone. What worked well with me ducray hairloss shampoo although the hair is falling but it makes it grow fast.
Hope my comment is helpful🌹
I used Dignicap and it did NOT work at all!
To play the devil's advocate, the first thing my oncologist told me was not to waste money on one of those. He said the best he had ever seen it do is delay hair falling to the second or third treatment.
Perhaps it depends on the kind of chemo you are getting.
In my case I figured that with soo many other medical bills coming my way I couldn't justify $1200 on something that may or may not work.
My friend did! It cost about $1200 and she did not lose her hair! Penguin Cold Caps was the name of them. You have to have a hospital or chemo ward willing to freeze your caps or allow to bring your own coolers, though.
