Do you belong to your local YMCA? Some YMCAs have Livestrong programs, so that is one option.

What do you like to do, exercise wise? Personally, I find that I get to the gym more often when I am going to do something I enjoy. If you like dancing, sign up for a Zumba class (and yes, everyone looks like an idiot when doing it... so don't feel self-conscious). Exercise doesn't need to be "go run 3 miles and do a bunch of crunches". The most successful programs are centered around doing an activity that you LOVE.

And, the best, most guaranteed way to get yourself to go to the gym... get a trainer. It's someone who can help you work into a program that works for you and it is someone you are accountable to and will call you out if you start to skip. I know this is a high cost option, but you don't have to meet with them every day. You can do once a week and they can help build out your plan for that week. Or you and a friend can do joint sessions and share the cost. There are alot of "flexible" arrangments that trainers are willing to work with.

But the hardest part is just taking the first steps. Once you get started and make it part of your routine... it'll be easier and easier to keep doing it. So take that first step! :)

Good luck!

I hate exercise. Lol. Walking is difficult with my back issues. Iā€™m hit or miss on doing chair exercises. I know what to do, have zero motivation.

Hi ERS... My Total Gym is an actual Chuck Norris type Total Gym. It has a post that allows me to adjust the level of resistance for exercises. I lift @40lbs with my upper body workouts and @75lbs with my leg workouts. The resistance is a % of my body weight. It has a glide bed to lie or sit on and a foot stand for my leg moves and jumps. It came with dip bars and a foot pilates bar that I can exchange for the foot stand., and also a pull up bar that i can use for pull ups, chin ups or move to the foot area and use for push ups. This is my 2nd TG. My previous one was one of the original ones and had been refurbished by my husband many times. After my surgery, my children bought me a new one for Christmas. I just feel so strong when I use it and my Drs keep telling me how "remarkable" I am. I like how carefully it was designed for body mechanics.and the fact that I am working against my own body weight. I was never sure about free weights and how I was using them. Every movement on a TG is slow and controlled. I can do slow!šŸ˜‰ some days I do 24 reps of the 14 exercises I do, somedays I do 36 reps of each. I mix up the exercises so muscles do not become complacent. And I do wall push ups as well as a few yoga moves and balance exercises before and after the TG. It is rewarding to have control over something in my life these days. My PT and my Massage Therapist tell me I am very fit.

I agree about getting a partner. Since I live out in the country and work from home. . . I have to make myself do it. Sometimes I am really good, but it is easy to put it off until tomorrow when you don't have to call someone and cancel. :-(
