Tamoxifen does not put you into menopause in fact you may still ovulate while on it. My cycles returned after 16 months from the day I started chemo and I was 47 then and just got tested and am still fully premenopausal at 49 1/2 now. Tamoxifen can cause some typical menopause SYMPTOMS, but it doesn't cause menopause. You still produce estrogen while on Tamoxifen but the drug blocks receptors to it. I quit it when I learned that in my case it only offers a 1% benefit which wasn't enough for me considering its side effects.

I've been done for a couple years. I'll be 55 this year and from the information she has given me, Arimidex, Femara or Aromasin will be the drug I will have to take for 5 years.

Thanks Kath! I read stories about temoxifin and a friend told me it drove her nuts. I don't believe my doctor will put me on that, and she has told me it will put me through menopause again..oh boy!
