My boyfriend's entire family has been so supportive of me with my dx, bilateral in Jan & all of my treatment so far. I found out yesterday his aunt was just dx but doesn't want many in the family to know. We are going to get her a basket of items to have at home after her surgery to make things easier for her including button pj's, aloe slipper socks, water bottles with straws built in
For those of you who had lumpectomies, what items did you find most helpful after surgery that I should… read more

A reclining lawn chair to sleep in for a while after surgery so she does not have to use her arms to push herself into a sitting position.....this way she can press down with her feet

Comfy, cute, big t-shirts and a good book or a bunch of magazines of interest to her. Also some good flavored teas to sip while reading or watching tv. Hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless!

A couple of Sports Bras that zips open in the front are handy - provides support, easy to get on (I would not have thought of it, but my surgeon recommended getting them before the surgery to wear after the surgery) - so glad I did -> less pain, more support.

ice packs! For the first couple of days, we need Ice packs...the softer the better. And compression or high intensity sports bras, if not use an wide ace bandage to add to an already supportive sports bra. Some one to make the bed w/fresh linens and vacume That was the best. xo

My insurance covered a compression bra which I was fitted for before the surgery. I loved the concept and needed it, but the velcro was miserable. I made a template and bought soft flannel to sew protector bands to go over the velcro. I also made these bands for a friend of mine who wore a compression bra shortly after I did. The ice packs from TheraPearls are THE BEST. They come in all shapes and sizes and can easily pop in any kind of bra or support. They last 20 minutes, which is the amount of time you are suppose to ice anyway. LOVE them. Small enough to put on top one's head for emergency hot flash treatment too. : )
