What To Do After You Get Bone Metastasis?
What to do for pain and how to conquer this.
I found the pain was the worst. Spent 10 days in the hospital being a experiment, trying a series of pain meds. I ended up on nucynta - a strong drug, hard to get approval from insurance but my doctor or the pain specialist wrote letters for me to get it approved. I find it so much better than oxcottin. I am the only one in the city taking this drug so I have to call ahead so the pharmacy will order it, they have to keep it locked up in a special safe. It is a pain to get but I hope it works until chemo kills the cancer, one year of chemo and no change, I just keep going, keep hoping.
That drug does nothing for me. I still am using advil 600 mg twice a day helps so much except the days I over do.
Arimidex gave me trigger finger, hip and bone pain and it was hard to get up and walk.Exercise did help though.
luckily I had a PET scan as soon as I was diagnosed with bc so my treatment was started early. after chemo it was still there(upper femur) but had dispersed or was healing. After radiation(10 to my femur) it showed up as only scar tissue on my PET scan.I can't say that I ever had any pain in my leg but during radiation and now on my hormone blocker I do have a lot of discomfort.
I've been going through that for a while now, and it seems like everything they give you causes bone pain. All I can tell you is that my doctor prescribed me pain medication, and if I wasn't on pain medication I usually take tylenol pain reliever or benadryl just to knock me out at night. I wish their was something more to help us with bone metastasis.
