Lumpectomy was february1, 2013 followed by 30 radiation sessions. Doc said very large lumpectomy. Is it normal to still feel pain? I have random pains in breast and still painful for someone to hug me and press up against press

Unfortunately, YES! My mastectomy was March 2010- and I still have random pains today. It does take quite some time for the damaged nerves to regrow. Be patient. Do as much stretching and moving as possible. With improved flexibility, the pain may lessen. Best of luck!!

I had my lumpectomy June 13, 2013 and 21+5 radiation treatments ended August 27th. August 30th a sore spot in the breast, my armpit and a considerable "bump" high on my inner arms became quite painful. I have had a sonogram and an indium scan (determines if there's an infection in the body) and despite the continuous low grade fever no abnormalities are found.
Occasionally, I will have a sharp shooting pain in the breast but that is the nerves healing and reconnecting; I've been told that is normal and a healthy sign.
I am noticing now for the first time that the affected breast is becoming noticeably smaller than the non-affected breast. So far the bras are OK but if it continues I am thinking I might need surgical intervention the larger breast.
That pretty much sums up my post-treatment difficulties. I would encourage you to check with your team of doctors just in case :)

My team of physicians today put me on hydrocordisone ointment to be applied to the swollen areas in the armpit, inner arm and upper breasts.
I do ice several times a day and it helps while icing but as soon as it thaws out the pain returns.
Yes, the mammogram is scary ... wasn't fearful until about a week ago ... and now all I want is for December 31st to get here so I have the results and know what I am dealing with!
Thanks for all the support! God is good and He didn't bring me here without giving me the GRACE to endure!

I don't have much surgical site pain, but the bone pain from chemo is still a problem 2 years after end of treatment. If your pain is centered around your breast, make sure your doctors KNOWS. I have found the services of a massage therapist who is qualified to do lymphatic drainage is VERY helpful.

I found that the pain from radiation is more than the lumpectomy pain. One doc said it is forever. We shall see. The American Cancer Society apparently has a lumpectomy prothesis they will send for free if you call the phone # for your area.
