My Doctor Prescribed Femara. I Have Not Started Yet. There Is A Posibility Of Many Side Effects. What Has Been Your Experience?
I've been on letrozole which is the generic of femara and yes i do have joint pain, muscle pain as for the hot flashes stuff off and on. Mostly I am always cold so I guess I would call it cold flashes also. Also about the bones thinning. Yes mine are on the thin side but I do not know how long they have been that way. I only had a bone densitity test screening some time last year. I had a choice of taken a shot to increase bone densitity and I read up on some of the side effects from that and I decided nope not going to take it. I currently take vitamin D3 5000 units per day and so far my calcium levels are good. I would rather take extra calcium and see how that works if I need to.
I did take Femara. The only negative for me was that because I had eight weeks of radiation for my first diagnosis, my bones were affected a little and I was taking Tamoxifen. My second diagnosis was 10 years later and I was prescribed Femara. I had minor bone loss in my hips and developed arthritis in my lower back (which I may have developed anyway because of family history). Be careful because, depending on the person, your bones can tend to be a little brittle. I take D3 and calcium, and I am doing fine. One suggestion: talk to a Naturopathic doctor for natural herbal remedies.
Love you and take care. You will be fine.
All drugs we take have some kind of side effect. If they really interfere with your quality of life talk to you doctor. Some do not give the body time to adjust to the medications. Or another scenario is you have a allergic reaction to the drug which in my opinion stop it immediately. You are the one that has the final say on what meds you want to take and not. Don't let any doctor try to somewhat bully you into doing something or taken a drug you do not want to do or take.
I read an article on calcium vitamin d3 and osteoporosis. Supposedly if I read the article correctly there is no cure for osteoporosis. Also your calcium levels low high or right amount has nothing to do with regaining your bone density. What it has to do with is your absorption of the calcium. You lose calcium through your pee. So in my mind it's a losing battle all the way around.
Joint pain and muscle pain. Exercise helps a lot
