Where Is The Best Place To Buy Wigs, Scarves, Etc?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
Hattiesburg, MS

I'll be starting chemo in next few weeks and want to get things prepared for myself, my family, my job, I hope to continue working as much as possible ( I'm a physician in Urgent Care) So am looking for the best places to look for head coverings ( wigs, scarves, etc) I am Triple Negative status post BMx with clear margins and 2/14 nodes positive. They placed the chemo port during the mastectomy surgery. Any help is appreciated :0

I wore a wig the whole time...I chose synthetic because they were a lot less expensive...I got one from a hairdresser that has wigs available through her business. I got another one from TLC catalog, plus some accessories...a thin, nylon "skull" cap under the wig helped me a lot!

My only suggestion is to invest in a real hair wig. They aren't as itchy, last longer and look a lot more natural!

A company called @"tlc" offers wigs, headcoverings, camis, bras, bra molds, etc. I don't know if you're comfortable buying a wig on line, but send for a catalog or check them out online @www.tlcdirect.org-my head was always cold at night when I lost my hair so I bought sleep caps and turbans from them. I couldn't adapt to a wig so I only wore turbans or hats.

I found some super cute, inexpensive wigs Online. Google Paula Young. They have one of the best return policies. I just bought a Jacqueline Smith wig and love it. It's amazing how "real" the wigs look! I get many compliments from strangers who have no idea it's a wig.

@The American Cancer Society offers free new or rarely worn wigs(some with tags still on) at or sites run by volunteer women who had or have this disease. I got mine from them. Also @"tlc" - (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators) has wigs, hats undergarments, bra forms, etc. Call and ask for a catalog. I ultimately was not a wig person, but ordered sleep caps, hat, etc. from them
