It sounds like you have experienced some discomfort with synthetic wigs. Here are a few tips that might help with the itching:

Fantastic ladies there, once you are diagnosed with cancer, the oncologist gives you a card with their address, and you go in and pick up a bag that you can use for chemo trips, water bottle, a book about getting through cancer treatments, assorted other little goodies, and a coupon for a discount on wigs/accessories.
They cut my hair into a short style (and donated the rest)- no charge
Buzzed it off when I felt it was time- no charge
Trimmed it as it was growing out- no charge (3 times)
They did my wig fitting, adjustment, and light trim to my liking- no charge
Wig washing- no charge (I would drop mine off after work, the pick it up the next day after chemo)
Held the Look Better, Feel Better program there- no charge
Use of the meditation room for when you are feeling overwhelmed- no charge
Bra fittings, etc.- no charge
They have a shop there to sell, scarves, beanies, wigs, accessories, books, etc. All proceeds go back into the shop. It is part of our hospital/cancer center. They also have the donated wigs, beanies knitted by the Chemo Grannies, etc. for whoever needs something. I can't say enough good things about that set up! Hugs!
Our center accepts wigs as a donation, they will clean, and offer to anyone without insurance, etc. That's what I did with mine.
I bought a wig prior to losing my hair, so that I could match the color and shee how close in style to my hair I could get. However, I felt comfortable with my bald head, so I did not wear it often. Besides, in the winter, my head was cold so I started wearing hats with no seams and liked that a lot. To each his own. We deserve to just be comfortable with ourselves, wether bald, with a wig or with a hat!
It's to hot here to want to wear a wig.... Lol 😂
Wig Or Not?
I'm Confused On Wigs. I Keep Reading I Should Get A Wig Before My Hair Starts Falling Out But I Don't Really Know What To Get.
Is An Itchy Scalp A Sign The Hair Is Going Or Is It Just Another Side Effect Of Chemo?
