Hi there, I had immediate recon after BMX with TEs, would do the same thing again. Did not experience the feeling of "my breasts are gone" because there were new ones when I woke up.

I would do it again (implant), but unfortunately it is not a new breast. I would have appreciated more hard cold truth about how fake they look and feel though. I wasn't prepared for that. I'm glad I didn't do nipple tattoo or recon because I've never met a woman happy with that outcome. I guess the only down side I'm realizing now is that I only had 1 breast removed and this year gained about 10 pounds. I think 5 of that was in my natural breast and so now they don't match at all. I have to pad my implant side if my bra. It's an incentive to lose the weight now I think!! LOL

I had reconstruction at the time of my bilateral mastectomy and it was a good decision for me. I am very active in swimming and yoga so reconstruction was the best option. I would not do the nipple again though. Waste of surgery.

I waited nine years before I did reconstruction and wish I did it at the same time as my mastectomy would have made me feel better about myself sooner.

I started my reconstruction during my bilateral mastectomy. I'm not even 3 weeks out and they are looking great. I start chemo in a few weeks and the expanders stay in until I am healed from chemo then the implants will be placed. The Cosmetic Surgeon said that patients who go through chemo and allow the expanders to stay for a few months typically have much better aesthetic results. I am so happy with my decision! Good luck to you and do what feels right!
