My Oncotype Is 24 So I'm In The Gray Area If Chemotherapy Would Be Beneficial. I've Had Mastectomy And Negative Nodes. Thoughts?
My Oncotype was 22 and I elected to do 4 rounds of TC to knock out any cancer cells that had made it to the bloodstream even though my nodes were clear. Cancer is a sneaky devil. I don't want to see it again. Now doing radiation as further preventive therapy.
I was a 24 oncotype as well. Did chemo and rads due to on micromet in a node and lymphovascular invasion present with my tumor. I did 4 TC treatments and it wasn't that bad. Hair loss stinks, but I'm so glad I did chemo for additional piece of mind and I have never looked back in regret. Good luck with your decision. Whatever you decide trust it and never look back!
This just goes to show that there are so many different "opinions" by our doctors. My score was a 28. I was told it was up to me. I could do the chemo or "roll the dice". I wasn't rolling any dice. I wanted to know I did everything possible so I did 4 rounds. We all have to make the best decisions for ourselves. Best of luck @A MyBCTeam Member!
My oncologists, both old and new, don't recommend chemo for Oncotypes under 29 because of the long term side effects.
Thank you @ Sanne. I have been to two Drs that would not give a definite answer. I've been leaning towards Tamoxifen only but your answer was very helpful!! @A MyBCTeam Member, I'm sorry you have had so much trouble. I appreciate your reply. Good luck and God Bless!!
