Multicentric Invasive Ductal Carcinoma
I was diagnosed with stage III A multicentric invasive ductal carcinoma. Though each tumor is less than .5 milimeters, there are several of them occupying a 7.5 centimeter mass. They found one lymph node positive (don't know how many others there might be), so they are giving me chemotherapy prior to a mastectomy and radiation. How rare or common is a multicentric IDC?
Upon my first diagnosis they told me I had one tumor. After my MRI I learned I was multicentric. Because I have large breasts I opted for a shot at a lumpectomy. They were able to get it all! Thank God! However I'm a 3C because I had significant number of lymph nodes. Keep your head up babygirl, you got this!!
My original biopsy reported that I had triple negative invasive. An MRI indicated another mass. When I underwent surgery my original mass was 1.9 millimeter triple negative invasive but the other was over 5 centimeters hormone positive DCIS. The 2 tumors could not have been more opposite. I am only being treated for the invasive TNBC.
