Tamoxofien Side Effects?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been on Tamoxofien for 3 1/2 months now and was told by 1 pharmacist that if I haven't had any side effects by now I won't get any ! Do yall think this could really be true?? I tend to disagree .

I had minor hot flashes at first and now have no side effects other than minor joint pain at times and it's been 2 years. So there is hope that none or very minor side effects exist.

I have found that the side effects of Tamoxifen evolve over time. It's now 8 months and many have come and gone. My MO said he expects my night sweats to increase as the weather warms up this summer, They didn't start until 3 months in. The nausea, muscle cramps, and tiredness have all disappeared. Had some blood clots (superficial phlebitis ) that occurred @ the 6 month mark in a varicose vein in my leg. Was told clotting problems usually show up within the first 2 months. So it has really varied for me.

I also disagree, the medication has a cumulative effect. My Oncologist said that some of her patients do well until the one year mark.I had asked because I was having terrible side effects after taking it for 7 months and was hoping they'd go away after a few more months and she said they most likely would only get worse. I should add that I'm still pre-menopausal, maybe it's different for post-menopausal ladies.

I have a uterus and have been told by my Gyno I am fine every time I go. I had the flashes within a month of starting, that and joint pain. No weight gain for me but the flashes affect everything from clothes I wear to what the heat is set at. I also take Effexor to help with flashes but it doesn't help much.
