I had 4 ac & 4 taxols. My side effects have been minimal. I joined livestrong at the YMCA almost immediately upon diagnosis and had a lot of support from them. I drank 2-4 quarts of water every day and 1 Gatorade. I also drank a beverage that had l-glutamate, taurine, and panax ginseng in it. After AC treatments on Friday I would feel great til Monday and Tuesday when I would have extreme fatique. My tastebuds would be sensitive but no sores so I just ate bland food and fruit. I found after each round I needed to mix up my food because what worked previously wouldn't work the next time. The taxol was much easier with the bone pain starting on Monday and lasting til Friday but it was all manageable with Tylenol. I found working out at the y actually made it feel better. I rode the bike on my tired days. I havn't lost any strength during chemo and may actually be stonger in my arms. I have four weeks til my double mastectomy but my oncologist can't feel any tumor or swollen lymph nodes. Yea!!!!

I just finished 12 rounds of Taxol, it is much easier than AC, side effects include allergy like symptoms ( coughing), neuropathy, and general fatigue. I maintained a 16 hr work schedule during treatment.

The glutamine powder is to help with the neuropathy( tingling that you could experience ) and also other symptoms like diarrhea and stomach issues. Oh forgot to mention the metallic taste I have had throughout that last a few days after chemo none of the remedies worked for me like mints, lemon head candy.

I had to do 12 rounds of taxol which was easier than the four rounds of AC I had to do. For my fingernails and toe nails I put tree tea oil on them daily only had my thumb nails turn a little dark but I didn't experience any nails lifting like some people had. I got the glutamine powder and took that as instructed by my nurse the first four days after chemo. My main side effect has been the chemo induced menopause, hot flashes, night sweats, nose bleeds and acid reflux along with fatigue. On the flip side my hair started to grow back about the second or third round of taxol. My last chemo is May 12 and my hair is growing at a very fast pace so I'm sure once I'm done with chemo it will grow faster. My eyebrows only got thinner never came out completely and my eyelashes didn't have any hair loss.

Completed 4 AC & 12 taxols - I used ice packs on my hands & feet after putting gloves on all 4 and use bags of ice to wrap around all 4. This will help to keep the nails turning black and possibility of falling off and neuropathy. I always eat prior to any chemo which help me from getting sick. Taxol was much easier than the AC but I was still out of breath and had major hot flashes.
