I Am On Herceptin And Taxol And Have Shaved My Head Due To Hair Loss, Does Your Hair Start To Grow Back When Your Only On Herceptin?
Yes, it does- and so many other things start to happen as well! The chemo fog starts to lift, energy starts building back (be careful, it's easy to overdo and get fatigued because it feels so good to feel up to stuff again!), your sense of taste and smell start to right themselves. The infusion sessions are quick and easy! I am excited for you in reaching this milestone!!- I "almost" (lol!) felt guilty taking the whole day off work for Herceptin- I would go in the morning, then do any other appts I might have to do- otherwise I would go to brunch, then do something fun! Congratulations!!
Hair loss is a common side effect of Taxol (paclitaxel), but once you finish chemotherapy, your hair can start to grow back. Typically, about one month after treatment, you may notice soft peach fuzz on your scalp. Over the next three to six months, you can expect to grow back another two to three inches of hair. I have 3 more Taxol infusions and then Herceptin and radiation - so the answers to your post have been helpful to me! My hair situation sounds the same - sparse on top but still a bit on the side. Sometimes I feel used to my little scarves and caps - sometimes I have that moment as well when you look in the mirror and can’t believe this is happening. Sending hugs to you!
Mine is growing slowly. I have perjata and herceptin for months. Very slow growth.
I have Abraxen with Herceptin and still have 6 more treatments to go. Dealing with swelling, yes I am also dealing with hair loss and fatigue due to weight gain from swelling. My Herceptin will continue until December 2023.
