I Am Getting Close To Being A 4 Year Survivor. My Question Is... Has Everyone's Onc. Sent You For Scans? I Have Had None. Normal?
I was Stage 1...DCIS... No lymph node involvement and 16 radiation. No chemo, only Arimidex, which I have two more years to take.
They can tell a lot from your bloodwork
They won't answer, I looked everything up on the computer. I cannot take Arimidex or any of them, it causes bone pain, I lost a lot of weight due to stomach pain, when my blood pressure went to 200/100, he took me off. He wanted me to go on Tamoxifican and I said no. My stage was invasive low 1DCIS, not in the lymph nodes, or surrounding tissues. It was Hormone receptive. They thought I might have had a reoccurrence, but it was fatty necrosis from radiation. It is true we can have reoccurences on or off the medicine. I know the medicine would of killed me. It will be 5 years in Feb 2016 free of cancer. Also the radiation did my thyroid in. Everytime I go in they do bloodwork, my platelets were high, he wanted to put me on a chemo drug, I said no it is hereditary. My platelets are fine now and so is my bloodwork, except for Anemia, and I have had that problem for years, I just take Iron. They went in to my bone marrow and it is fine . You have to speak up . I also had a lung Dexa scan, and it was fine. I will have another in a year. Hope this is helpful.
I was stage 2a idc- 16 mos out and my Drs do not do any scans unless blood work is off- so far my tumor markers have been good-
Stage I DCIS with no lymph involvement means it has not spread so no scans needed unless additional symptoms would pop up or tumor markers are elevated.
I am only 6 months out from my BMX. I asked my oncologist if I could have a PET scan and he told me NO because I didnt have any lymph nodes involved. I am not happy with his answer, but I am glad to hear of other woman not getting any scans also. Especially being a 4 year survivor. I was Stage 2 ILC.
When Is One Considered A Survivor? I Was Using The Date Of Surgery, But Was Recently Told It Is From The Day Of Diagnosis.
PET Scan Before Surgery Which Would Show All FDG Avid Cancer Cells?
Is It Normal For Your Oncologist Not Do Do Any Kind Of Scans. The Only Scan At Was A PET At The Time Of My Surgery. Nothing Else Since Then
