Every woman is at risk for recurrence for guess what?! Her whole
Life! That's no reason to keep a port. A port can easily be put back in if you need one.

I had my port removed once my double mastectomy was done, and my first Pet Scan was ran which gave me the all clear. My port hurt, and bothered me every day. I was so happy when it was taken out. The doctors will remove it if you ask. :)

I had my first port taken out when I had the maectomies so when it reoccured I had to have another one placed, it bothers sometimes but has gotten better with time.

My Dr would only leave mine in for 1 year after chemo. I was worried that I would have to have it put back in. I have been in remission for 3 years and still worry about it coming back.
