Antihormone Aromatase Inhibitors
I'm about to switch from tamoxifen to an AI - letrozol. With tamoxifen I had many of the side effects. Anyone have experience with letrozol? Any advice before I start? Questions to ask dr? Etc....
Last year I switched from tamoxifen to Letrazole . My major side effects have been the same with both. Red face & sweating hot flashes, night sweats, lymphedema arm & shoulder aches & pains.
Anastrozole has lactose fillers - your onco is probably not aware of that, my pharmacist researched it for me. I am lactose intolerant. I switched to Exemestane almost 4 years ago. I do have some joint and muscle pain, but I walk as often as possible and do a strength work out every day - it helps. I am 79 yrs and I find Exemestane quite tolerable for me. What I struggle with is Peripheral Neuropathy from the chemo. In May I will have nerve conduction testing to see if anything can be done to help. I do not want pain meds. Btw, the hot flashes from Exemestane are now pretty much gone and only have occasional night sweats.
Femara makes me really tired and sleepy...but no joint pain less hot flashes and definitely no insomnia
I never used Tamoxifen, but I'm getting ready to start on one of the Aromatase inhibitors as well. I would be interested in this information as well.
