Is There Anyone On Here That Was Told Chemo Wasnt An Option?

I just joined this site and after reading so many stories I have yet to come across someone who hasn't had chemo. My oncologist said my cancer was too extensive for surgery or chemo. Was anyone else told this?

I have never heard of an onco saying your cancer is too extensive for chemo! What treatment does he suggest? I would diffitnity get another opinion even if you have to go to another city to a cancer center! I wish you the best. Hugs

I went away for the weekend during my chemo and forgot my tube at home, needless to say I developed sores, I went right back on it as soon as I got home and it was the only time I had sores. I didn't even have to use the swish my onco. Prescribed. It also heals and prevents cold sores apply directly to lip, it will turn white but you can wipe it off gently or wet it.

Marthagreen, find yourself a Melaluca rep and order a tube of cinnamon toothpaste. $3.99. It takes the sores in your mouth away, and keeps new ones from happening. Rub it on the sores directly. Then brush teeth with it daily. Good luck!

I have stage IV cancer IDC estrogen+. I have been on hormone blockers such as Armosin which worked for a year. From there I started on Faslodex which didn't work. Then I started Xeloda for 4 months which only stabilized the bone mets. Now I'm on Ibrance/Femara. I have been Xgeva for 20 months. My onco said that with estrogen positive cancer even stage IV the preferred treatment is hormone blockers before going on IV chemo which is harder on you and I'm all for that! Although, I imagine that I will be on chemo some day.

The biggest snag I run into is my husband. I let him take care of everything. He takes care of all billing and doctor appointments and prescriptions . Everything so I can just focus on feeling better. He is the type of person who always thinks he knows best. He does a great job at getting things done. I admit I have taken a passive role. I tend to let him take over control in all aspects of my life. But that goes back to other issues in my life. I did go to Sloan in NYC when I was first diagnosed for a second opinion. The doctors there agreed with my local doctor about treatment. They agreed that because my cancer is fed by hormones ,chemo was not necessary. Since reading everyone's advice I went back to read my pathology report. Because I was diagnosed at stage iv with is rare, the cancer wouldn't respond to chemo. Doctors and my husband tell me that even though life expectancy is five years I could live twenty or more years. @A MyBCTeam Member I can't tell you how much I appreciate your input. You are an amazing person. Thank you.
