My Heart Rate Is Slightly Elevated, Should I Be Concerned?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
Caledonia, ON

I had my first treatment of A/C today and was really anxious about it. I feel good right now actually but I noticed my heart rate is up. I can measure it on phone and find that it is sitting b/w 90-95 no matter what I'm doing. My doc has left for the day and I'd like to avoid a trip to the ER but the pamphlet said fast heartbeat call doc immediately. How fast is fast??

Hi Tammy,
If your heart is greater than 120 it's considered tachycardia, needs attention! If it's lower , but is associated with shortness of breathe, this also needs attention. Normal. Heart rate is between 60-90, a bit above, especially after your stressful day is probably normal for u, call your md in am and good luck :)

My heart rate would elevate if I wasn't getting enough hydration. Make sure you are drinking at least 3 quarts of water a day. It's very important.

I was told Anything over 100 BPM is concerning; however that being said, call and leave a message for your doctor. I am sure someone from his service will contact you with an answer. Be safe and God bless you

Do you know what it was before you left tx? Mine was pretty high as was bp during ac. If you are concerned call, does your onc have an after hours number? or go to the er. It is ok to go and get reassurance this is scary stuff. Especially the first time. Good luck and breathe deep it gets easier!
