Chemo Regimen: AC/T Or TC?
Must choose between AC/T and TC for my chemo regimen. I'm 38 and had micrometastasis to one node. All margins around primary tumor were clear. I'm terrified of the potential longterm side effects of the adriamycin, and there doesn't seem to be strong, clear research-based evidence yet that the AC/T regimen is significantly better than the TC regimen. My family has a history of heart problems, though mainly electrical rather than valvular. Any thoughts out there on how to decide? I'll be getting… read more
I read a study that AC-T works better for triple negative. I'm ER+ and had AC-T. CHemo brain is still bad for me and it'll be 2 years in July since I finished chemo. Good luck with your decision.
I had the same decision to make. MO would not tell me which one. Just said I could do either. The heart problems scared the daylights out of me so I chose TC. Hopefully it was a good choice. No oncotype done. MO said would probably come back high.
Your medical oncologist is the best person to ask. Be well, Liz
I was told by my onc that if I needed chemo I would do TC. He said it was shown to be more effective for hormone positive than AC-T and it only had four treatments, spaced by three weeks, so 9 weeks between first and last treatment, He did say it wasn't an easy regimen, but not sure which ones would be considered easy. I got lucky and my oncotype dx was low, so no chemo. So far, as much as I can tell, my doctor has been good about getting the most up-to-date treatments. When I did research it did look like TC was the way to go. There might be other factors that might make a different choice better for you though.
