Anyone who has had this chemo please let me know side effects and how it was administered. And how often treatments are. My friend is receiving Adriamycin and cyclophosphamide. Thank you.

If your friend has to have the Neuoasta shot, tell her to get the OTC allergy med Claritan. I took it the day before and 2-3 days after the shot. It helps with the deep bone pain.

I am finished with chemo now, but I did have 4 rounds of AC, 2 weeks apart, before 12 weekly treatments of the Taxol. The AC wiped me out, fatigue all the time. The fatigue would last about 10-12 days and then I'd feel better, but next infusion was 14 days later and it would start all over again. I also had mouth sores, starchy/salty cravings, but could not eat much. I had mild nausea and lived off of soup. The skin on my hands and feet peeled terribly, but i found some great moisturizers for that. During the infusion of AC I would get burning sensations in my nose and throat, headaches, and restless leg syndrome. Something to be aware of is that immediately following the infusion of AC, your urine will be red for a few hours-drink lots of water to flush it out. Of course, one's immune system is compromised greatly with any chemo, so be careful around germs. I ended up hospitalized about a week after my first treatment for a severe infection. I had to be on IV antibiotics and fluids. Taxol didn't seem as harsh to me. Fatigue wasn't as bad and I was able to get my appetite back. Chemo was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but necessary. Good luck to your friend!

I just finished this one. It is a harsh one one for me. I struggled to keep my white counts up and ended up having 3 fast acting shots which were painful and then the slow acting shot. Hair, eyebrows, and eye lashes fallen out. Nausea, tiredness, I had a few mouth sores, numbness, everything started tasting bad, also alot of forgetfulness. Praying for your friend

I had 3 months of the intense A/C, supposed to have Neulasta shot on day following treatment which i had horrid pain along my neck and across my shoulders, tried Neuprogen shot and same side effect (they are in the same family), so remainder of treatments none of those. Experienced the hair loss, food not tasting good, mouth sores, loss of energy, nails falling off both hands and toes, started taxol/hercepton and had tingling in my hands, feet, and legs, skin peeling from bottom of my feet. I am thankful for no nausea and didnt even have to use to meds....I opted out of anymore treatments of hercepton (protocol for a yr) because of the multiple long range side effects. My last chemo was in June and by middle of July I feel like myself again, still have to pace what i do to a certain extent but at least dont have to wonder about what side effect I will endure!!!

I'm currently on this A/C dense dose. I have had problems as you will be able to see from my most recent post. Side effects that I have include extreme mouth sores (salt & warm water help a lot plus the magic mouthwash), on going nausea (which you have to stay on top of with your anti-nausea meds), and increasing fatigue. I am about to have my 3rd round tomorrow.
