Anyone Experience Joint And Muscle Pain From Herceptin?

I had full chemo treatments plus Herceptin from 12/17 to 5/18, and have continued Herceptin treatments every three weeks since 5/18. I have one treatment left. I am having severe joint and muscle pain, and struggle with exhaustion. I was also taking Anastrazole since 06/18, which was stopped a month ago due to these issues, as it wasn't known which was causing it. The plan was to restart Anastrazole after Herceptin is done. The exhaustion and pain are bad the week following treatment, and… read more

It wasn't the chemo for me but rather the neulasta shot that left me aching everywhere. Are you still taking this?
The other thing is herceptin causes terrible diarrhea that can lead to electrolyte imbalance and severe muscle cramps.

I have been receiving Herceptin every 3 weeks since January 2018, to be completed by end of January 2019. I finished chemo end of March 2018. I believe I am having joint and muscle aches due to the Herceptin - has gotten worse as time goes on, and I can’t believe it would still be the chemo affecting me so much at this point. Takes me forever to get going in the morning, or after just sitting for awhile. Also joint stiffness, swelling in hands and feet and stubborn weight gain. While my oncologist says there shouldn’t be any side effects with Herceptin, he does acknowledge that I am having them, and for that reason he has started me on Tamoxifen vs. Letrozole (which is what women my age would normally receive) because of the joint and muscle aches associated with aromatase inhibitors. So I guess what I’m saying is, I can relate to your Herceptin side effects. I do find that walking regularly seems to help - not so much for the muscle aches, but perhaps the fresh air and knowing that it is good for my heart. Glad you have only one treatment left - hopefully things will start to improve for you after that - all the best to you :)

Maybe its time to have a serious talk to your team sounds like u need a break to reset. It sounds like it's wearing you down you need a light at the end of the tunnel and your drs need to find that for you.

I had a rare but “not unheard of” side effect from Herceptin while on radiation. Flu like body aches, severe fatigue, fever (100-103) and developed a “pneumonitis” in 50% of both lungs which lasted about 3 months. My onc. Stopped Herceptin in my 9th month and radiation was just completed when the symptoms got really bad. I was treated with a steroid Pednisone and took lots of Tylenol and Advil. Was referred to a pulmonologist and immunologist (chemo induced lupus was suspected) but it took so long to get an appt., I got better on my own, thank goodness! I hope you get better with time too!
