My Partner Had An MRI Performed And It Stated A Nonmass Like Enhancement In Both Breasts. She Was Considered A Bi-rads 4.

Did anyone receive a cancer diagnosis following this type of finding?

Having unfortunately very recently been through the diagnosis process myself, I can tell you that Bi-rads 4 means that there is a suspicious finding and that the radiologist recommends a biopsy. There are three levels of Bi-rads 4: 4a, 4b, and 4c. 4a is low suspicion, 4b is moderate suspicion, and 4c is high suspicion. There is a level of suspicion above 4: level 5, which means that radiologist is pretty sure it's cancer (95%). There is also a 3, which means the radiologist is pretty sure it's not cancer and recommends waiting and re-checking in 6 months. In my case, I had three biopsies. The first two were after a mammogram/ultrasound. They were both rated 4b by the radiologist: one turned out to be benign, and the other turned out to be cancer. I then had an MRI with a 4b finding (a different spot) by the radiologist. It was a focal non mass-like enhancement, which turned out to be cancer (Invasive ductal carcinoma). The enhancement on the MRI was significantly larger than the actual tumor they found in surgery. I wish your partner the best of luck and health and hope that in her case, the findings turn out to be benign.

MY Bi Rad was 4C and was "very suspicios, biopsy recommemded" and was DCIS. BiRads come in 1-4 and each number goes (Ithink) A-C. Find out Exactly what her was and research thru Mayo Clinic information- I thing that is a good reliable source.

Thank you so much! My results were not as vague. So nervous because I know what she’s facing if the results are positive for cancer!!

You can ask your partner's doctor because the more detailed info should be on the radiologist's report (sometimes patients only get an abbreviated version). However, the real answer will be from the biopsy -- I am sending good thoughts for that!!!
