I tried all 3 and exemestane was the best one for me. You can ask for a breast cancer index test to be done. They send the test out. They will look at the info/tumor from your pathology / reports and tell you whether or not you will benefit from taking AI’s 10 years vs 5. I just had it done and had a 2.4% benefit to take it 5 more years so was able to call it a day after 5! (A very LONG day 😀).

I'm taking Anastrozole which is a hormone suppressant. I'm having no side effects at all. According to my oncologist, 50% of people have no side effects. Don't be scared by all the possible side effects listed on the info sheet that comes with your prescription. Many people have either mild or no side effects. If you do have some, then talk to your oncologist and they can address them or change you to a different hormone suppressant.

Estrogen blockers can result in other health issues later on even after they are stopped. Some symptoms may go away, some may not. Only you can decide if quantity is more important than quality of life.

Update: my knee pain disappeared totally at 3 weeks post aromasyn treatment. My hot flashes have decreased to 1-2 a day (usually at night) but are definitely lessening and not as intense at 2 months. I’ve read that it can take up to 3 months to see hot flashes be eliminated- seems to be accurate.
