Should I Feel My Implants Moving Around? How Long Should I Be Feeling Pain After My Mastectomy Surgery?

On my left side I can flip that implant around and it will flip around on it's own requiring me to move it back into position. It is quite painful when I have to do it but should I be able to move it is my question. Also on my right side that implant slides into my armpit which is very uncomfortable for me and in the middle between the breasts on the right side there's a dip that isn't on the left side. When I talk to my plastic surgeon about my concerns he says that these are minor issues and… read more

Regarding pain, it's normal to experience some discomfort after a mastectomy. Chronic pain, known as post-mastectomy pain syndrome (PMPS), can persist for more than three months and sometimes even years after surgery. Symptoms of PMPS include:

- Pricking or shooting pain
- Excessive itching
- Numbness or tingling

If you continue to experience pain or have concerns about your implants, it's crucial to discuss these symptoms with your healthcare provider to determine the best course of action.

I totally agree with Rebecca690. You need a second opinion.

It would be impolite and unseemingly to fully state my real opinion of your plastic surgeon here. His response is unfeeling and defensive / questionable - IMHO. It was meant to shut you down. Don't be intimidated - stand tough and proceed, just not with the same Dr. I would seek a different opinion. Call some other Drs and explain that your surgeon is not inclined to address your concerns/problems. (Makes me think of that TV series where all those two plastic surgeons do is correct problems that other Drs created or simply could not address.) Good Luck!

I was told by my Breast doctor that another plastic surgeon would not look at another plastic surgeon's work.
